Educator-focused Programs
MCBRE programs support not only students, but teachers and administrators as well. MCBRE recently concluded or is currently running the following programs focused on teachers and/or administrators: Industry Roundtables: Experienced industry professionals engage with leaders nad developers of select career pathway programs to guide the strategic direction of coursework that serves over 14,000 secondary students. Sessions lead to the creation of focused advisory boards that track key student outcomes: recruitment, retention, and post-secondary action plans. Diversity and Inclusion: Partnering with the best industry professionals, MCBRE is working with the school system to create the first comprehensive diversity and inclusion program in public education. By focusing on elements of training, communication and organization, this effort is designed to ensure that students feel included and respected and that educators acquire the multiple cultural competencies required to work with nearly 140,000 K-12 students from over 160 countries. Take a Subject to Work: This unique approach to improving student learning involves area businesses hosting teachers on-site, so teachers can better understand real-world applications of their subject matter. Based on their experiences at the business sites, teachers develop new lesson plans that connect classroom learning to the workplace, enabling an answer to a common refrain from students: "When will I ever use this?” Click here to view a video - covering the initial year of this program - produced by MCPS Instructional TV.
