720

In just 720 school days, an incoming freshman becomes a high school graduate.

The 720 program brings guest speakers from the business community into 9th grade classrooms in the fall of each school year to deliver an important message about achievement in high school.

The 720 program focuses 9th grade students on the 720 days of high school and how three things -- maximizing their transcript, managing their online identity (Myspace/Facebook pages), and practicing smart financial habits -- will impact future success. MCBRE is recruiting guest speakers from the business community to speak to 9th grade classes about these three critical issues and how they impact future success in college or the workplace.

MCBRE needs guest speakers like you to visit Montgomery County public high schools, starting September of each year. With a nominal time commitment, you can help change students' lives by arming them with the information they need to make smart decisions about the future.

If you are interested in volunteering as a guest speaker this fall, please follow the steps below.

Step 1: Review your training PowerPoint. This presentation is the presentation you will give to the 9th graders you are speaking to. Please note, the PowerPoint is a training tool for guest speakers and should not be shared directly with students.

Step 2: Download and review the classroom handouts. You will distribute these handouts to each student at the appropriate point in the presentation (instructions on when to distribute the handouts are in your traning powerpoint. There will also be a survey that you will receive on the day of your presentation for you to disseminate to the students during the last five minutes of the class period. Guest speakers are responsible for making enough copies of each handout for their presentations. (approx. 30 students per class). If you are unable to make copies, please let MCBRE know so alternate arrangements can be made.

Step 3: Review the 720 presentation schedule for information on participating schools and presentation dates. Please review the schedule prior to registering as a guest speaker.
